Juvenile Big Books • Overview

Big Books collection photo

Juvenile Big Books are located at the end of the children's book collection; juvenile oversized, Caldecott and Newbery Award winners, and book kits are presented in this same area. Big books are shelved numerically, general signs are posted on the top shelf and rows below include labels identifying the number range located in each section. Call number start with BigBk followed by a number; the newest title has the highest number.

Big books are housed in large hanging bags, both bag and book should be taken to the circulation desk. Big Books are part of the circulating collection.

Big Books in the Catalog

When searching the catalog, you may notice some big book titles have a corresponding picture book. For example, BigBk 038, Old MacDonald Had a Farm; it includes big book 038 and audio book 0151, a picture book in paperback and audio tape. Both items are available for check-out!

Audio Books are located inside the IRC - and we have cassette players (really!) if you want to listen to the book. Ask in the IRC if you need help locating an audio book.

Big Book Stands

Trouble holding a big book during storytime or lessons? There are two big book stands / easels (Kit 349) available for check out.
