Spanning Genres • Keep in Mind

There are any number of cross genres items as well; you may find poetry or prose titles that are cataloged as juvenile fiction or information topics presented in poetic form classified as literature (nonfiction). Novels in verse, such as Kwame Alexander's Rebound or Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse, are another catalog subject also included in this genre.

Poetry titles will include a range of formats, from picture books to full anthologies. When exploring the collection, you will find that not all picture books are for young children - and not all anthologies are for young adults.  Poetry as a classification will include children's poetry, epic poetry, rhymes, limericks, haiku, and nursery rhymes.
