Dr. Grady's areas of specialty include Film Studies, Gender Studies, Rhetoric and Composition, Literature (American, British, German. She teaches courses in film, television, literature and writing; is the faculty advisor, Eagles for P.R.I.D.E.; and has published work on The Shawshank Redemption, Mad Men, Doctor Who and Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood).


Introducing • CLEAR Framework

Developed by Dr. Leo S. Lo, "the CLEAR Framework for Prompt Engineering, (was) designed to optimize interactions with AI language models like ChatGPT. The framework encompasses five core principles—Concise, Logical, Explicit, Adaptive, and Reflective—that facilitate more effective AI-generated content evaluation and creation" (Lo, 2023).


Workshop Activity • ChatGPT


ChatGPT Prompt

Draw a picture of me as a real-life action figure. Be as specific as possible based on what you know about me, and include multiple interesting items inside the packaging that represent who I am.

  • Apply CLEAR Framework's five principles during your chat session.
  • Develop follow up prompts to customize your action figure and accessories.
  • Evaluate the responses and identify ways to improve the image prior to completion.
  • Review the final product.  Did it meet your expectations?
  • Consider how you could / should / would continue the process. 

ChatGPT • Did You Know? 

ChatGPT Plus is free for college students now through the end of May 2025. "Full and part-time students at degree-granting schools in the United States and Canada are eligible for this offer" (ChatGPT, 2025).
