Workshop Activity

What You Know • ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini

Consider a task, job, or hobby that you know how to do and can clearly explain to another person. For example:

  • I've invited four friends to lunch. Give me a recipe that is easy and healthy. Provide a shopping list
  • Explain the rules governing an NHL game.
  • Help me create a shopping list for a week's worth of meals on a college student budget.
  • Create a packing list for my spring break trip to Japan this March.
  • I just bought a Harry Potter Lego set. Give me instructions for getting started.
  • I need to wash my car. Provide me with instructions and a list of items to complete the task.

What AI Knows • Evaluate the Results

Review and compare the prompt results. Consider the following:

  • Which platform did a better job with the results?
  • Did it miss any steps? Get anything wrong?
  • Did it share something you never considered before?
  • Was it necessary to provide a secondary prompt for additional information?
  • Are the results valid? How are you able to verify the results?

Workshop Activity

What AI Knows • Draw Me a Picture

Exploring what ChatGPT knows about me via saved searches.

  • Create an image (picture) option: Based on what you know about me, draw me a picture of what you think my current life looks like.
  • Follow Up: Explain the picture to me in words.

What You Know • Evaluate the Results

Taking a closer look at the image and consider the following:

  • What does AI think it knows about me?
  • What assumptions did it make?
  • What, if any, biases did it perpetuate?
  • How does the image differ from reality?
  • What limitations are there surrounding this prompt?

Session 1 • Conclusion

  • Session Wrap Up:  Evaluation
  • Registration Open:  Join us for the next to workshop sessions.
  • Gift Card Drawing
