Life magazine is a great way to get a feel for an era (clothing, make-up, furniture, cars, homes).  You can use Academic Search Complete to look for Life articles on a particular topic, but the articles rarely include pictures.  You can also use Life's online index, and Lifes online photo archive.  To find pictures or just get a feel for an era, you might try browing through our old Life magazine collection.  We have paper copies for 1942-1967 and 1998- 2000.  They are bound and  shelved on 6th floor.
