* Welcome to Archer Library: Data Overview & References

Meet our faculty and staff and learn more about Archer Library's impact at Ashland University.

Library Impact Data • Overview

Archer Library Impact data is curated each year and reported to The ACRL Academic Library Trends and Statistics Survey, and the Academic Libraries (AL) section of Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS).

Information and support services, including data related to the Instructional Resource Center (IRC), Correctional Education (CE), in-person and virtual reference transactions, and Archer Library's FAQs Knowledgebase, and instructional services, such as Archer Library Guides are also provided.

Data gathered for both annual surveys, ACRL Academic Library Trends and Statistics Survey and IPEDS, reflects the prior academic year. Archer Library Impact numbers follow the same format; the 2024 Archer Library Impact numbers feature data from the 2022-23 academic, or fiscal, year.

ACRL Academic Library Trends & Statistics Survey

The ACRL Academic Library Trends and Statistics Survey "is the largest survey of academic libraries in the country, providing one of the most comprehensive portraits of the impact that academic libraries have across the United States" (ACRL, 2021).

Academic libraries have access to Benchmark: Library Metrics & Trends enabling peer comparisons to help "better understand their performance and can support everyday decision making, such as establishing baselines and identifying opportunities to improve services (ACRL Benchmark, 2021).

IPEDS Academic Libraries (AL)

"The purpose of the Academic Libraries Survey (ALS) is to collect information on library resources, services, and expenditures from academic libraries serving degree-granting, Title IV postsecondary institutions in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the outlying areas" (IPEDS).
