Learn more about some of the frequently used children's literature topics and subjects such as alphabet and counting books, art & performing arts, environment, exceptionalities, health and exercise, holiday, and math. Each page features library catalog links, books recently added to the juvenile collection; some present IRC Pinterest boards with additional details.


The library's juvenile collection, including picture books, chapter books, fiction, non-fiction, young adult fiction and non-fiction, big books and leveled books kits, is located on the second floor, directly outside of the Instructional Resource Center. Need help locating a title? Stop in the IRC for assistance.

Juvenile Collection Overview: Library of Congress

Juvenile fiction falls under the Library of Congress subject heading P, language and literature; specifically PZ for general juvenile fiction. Juvenile non-fiction titles is classes within the topic area of it's regular subject heading class from A (general works) to Z (bibliography). Below is a quick guide resource for popular subject headings within language and literature.
