Session Overview •

Today's session will focus on getting started with Wikipedia and providing basic skills needed to participate in the Ohio Women's Wikipedia edit-a-thon. Participants will become comfortable adding content links and general text and content by using Wikipedia's visual editor while exploring and playing in their sandbox.  

Session participants will:

• Create a Wikipedia account;
• Explore the Wikipedia sandbox page provided for every account;
• Access and use the visual editor to enter text;
• Explore options for formatting text content such as headings, font size, and font customization;
• Format hyperlinks to content including Wikipedia pages and internet links;
• Examine Wikipedia citation tasks in the visual editor;
• Investigate options for free images (time permitting); and
• Add your name to the Meetup's Edit-a-thon participant list (not required).
