TH 203 Theatre Aesthetics: Website Evaluation

The Great and Wonderful Internet!

We all love the Internet.  It is accessible, convenient and fast.  Though the Internet provides a lot of information on almost anything you can think of, it may not be quite so easy to verify and evaluate that information.  If you are going to use the Internet as your main source for information, beware!  Remember, anyone can publish information on the Internet.

How do you know when the Internet is a good choice for information?  Consider these questions:

  • Are you sacrificing quality for convenience?  If you answer yes, you weigh the risks
  • Is the information more current than other sources?  If you answer no, what is its value to you?
  • Is the information more authoritative than other sources?  If you answer no, what is its value to you?
  • Is the information more reliable than other sources?  If you answer no, what is its value to you?
  • Does the information provide unique coverage of your topic?  If you answer no, what is its value to you?
