Welcome to the IRC Leveled Book Kits library guide. The Instructional Resource Center's book kits are part of Archer Library's juvenile collection. This guide features information about our book kit collection and resources for guided reading and levels.
Navigate this site using the tabs in the left sidebar. Explore tabs from top to bottom, leveling resources and kits classified by F & P levels, or browse the full collection by number.
Instructional Resource Center book kits are comprised of children's fiction and non-fiction titles available for use with guided reading. Kits are presented in red expanding folders, and include copies of the book cover for easy browsing. Individual kits include six or more copies of a single title making them perfect for small group sharing.
Book kit call numbers use "other call number " classification. They are shelved numerically within the collection, each call number includes the label Book Kit followed by a number: Book Kit 049. A complete numerical listing of all book kits in the library catalog may be found here.
Book Kits were initially evaluated by COE education students as part of a course assignment, appropriate level information was recommended. Recent additions to the collection were purchased with leveling information identified by the publisher. In both cases, recommended levels are a starting point and should be evaluated prior to classroom use.
Leveled book kits may include the following information: Lexile grade and stage (emergent, early, early fluent and fluent), F & P (Fountas and Pinnell) and Directed Reading Assessment (DRA).
Yes! Book kits are part of the IRC circulating collection.
