What are Book Kits? The Instructional Resource Center (IRC) book kit collection features ;juvenile (children's) titles selected for use with guided reading. Each kit includes six or more copies of a single title, they are presented in a red expanding folders complete with book covers for easy browsing and information pertaining to recommended reading levels.
Book Kits were either evaluated by COE education students who recommended appropriate level information, or purchased with leveling already identified. Leveled kits may include the following information: grade and stage (emergent, early, early fluent and fluent), F & P (Fountas and Pinnell) and Directed Reading Assessment (DRA).
Part of the Instructional Resource Center (IRC) circulating collection, book kit call numbers are a numerical "other call number" beginning with a classification of 'bookkit' and cataloged by accession; the newest title has the highest number. A complete numerical listing of all book kits in the library catalog may be found here.
Book Kits by Level This library guide presents IRC book kits organized according to Fountas & Pinell (F&P) levels. Some kits may have additional leveling information provided; a few kits do not have level information available.
