The Basic Steps to Writing a Research Paper

1. Make sure you understand the writing assignment. 

2. Choose a topic

3. Create a basic research question (eventually used to create a thesis statement)

4. Identify the main audience

5. Research

6. Outline 

7. Write the paper (You can start with a basic draft then work up to a full paper)

8. Revise/Edit/Proofread

Writing a research paper is a long process, and can be challenging. Don't give up! It will become clearer with time and practice!
